Despite the Google score, I had a great experience with Easy Tours. My hotel booked their Chichen Itza Clasico tour the night before and they promptly got me a spot. Most tourists turned out to be Spanish speakers, which made me the minority, but it also meant that when we were assigned guides by language at Chichen Itza, my group had just three people, effectively making it a private tour. The guide was knowledgeable and passionate about Mayan history and culture. Afterward we drove to a cenote with a buffet lunch. I didn't expect much, but it was good: lots of meats you could make into tacos (I had mine with rice). The cenote itself was stunning, with deep blue water and a rope swing you could jump from. We then headed to Valladolid for free time to explore on our own. A few sales pitches were woven into the day: a personalized Mayan calendar on the drive over, souvenir shops at Chichen Itza, a mezcal and tequila tasting. I found it completely in keeping with a region that runs on tourism. A polite no was always enough. The tour runs about 12 hours and I was exhausted by the end, and it's worth knowing you travel by van, not bus, so groups stay small throughout.

We booked it at the very last minute, but they were very welcoming to us. We chose to do a cenote tour, and it was absolutely fun! We were the only English speakers in the group, and the guide came to explain things to us after explaining in Spanish. We visited four different cenotes in the area. We got picked up /dropped off in the downtown.

We went on a trip to Isla Mujeres with Easy Tours from Playa del Carmen. The trip started late and communication wasn't very clear, which meant we were waiting around a lot and got home 2 hours late in the end. The bus that took us to Cancun was very old, but seats were comfortable enough. The boat was good, but it turned out to be quite a party atmosphere with lots of drunk people, not ideal for a family with small children like us. Alcohol was served throughout the day and that was very obvious with some of the guests who started to behave as such. The snorkeling trip in the morning was great, but very rushed. I'd probably do some more research before booking next time and choose a more family friendly option, but overall it was an okay trip.
