The house is outside the town of Porto Colom. A car is essential for ANY travel: shopping, groceries, the beach, etc. To reach the house, you have to take a sandy/gravel track with impressive potholes. There is no paved road leading to the house. There is no garbage collection; you have to take your trash to Porto Colom (containers are 3 km away). The exterior and grounds of the villa are magnificent; everything has been put into them: exposed stone, a large covered patio, a working swimming pool (but not cleaned in the living area, so it was full of pine needles), and two large terraces. The tables are spacious enough for 10 people to eat comfortably. A new Weber barbecue was available for our use (there is also a pizza/bread oven). Two large refrigerators are available (one outside). The interior of the house needs updating and is still in its previous owner's possession. The same exterior with some modernization would justify a higher price, but as it stands, it's far from being a luxury home. The exterior is quite attractive, and that's perhaps the most important thing since we don't actually live inside the house. Note: - The owner requires a security deposit upon arrival, in cash only. (Booking.com initially listed it as €300 at the time of booking, but without explanation, it was increased to €500 upon arrival.) - Electricity is not included in the price (outrageous when you pay €4,000 per week). The owner charges €0.90 per kWh consumed. We later discovered, for our second rental on the island (Alcudia), that this clause did not apply. (despite six air conditioning units, some of which were running 24/7.)

We booked this villa for a week and were really looking forward to it (6 people). The booking process was a bit chaotic but manageable. General information about the villa: - Very spacious, very large with a grounds, carport, garden, etc. - 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms The furnishings are very basic and simple. Kitchen appliances, toilet paper, and towels are provided. Fans are provided, but there is no air conditioning. However, the bathrooms are very clean (hygiene measures are in place). I highly recommend having a car for shopping. The nearest supermarket (Eroski Center in Portocolum) is about 4 km away. The road to/from the villa is really bad. There's no proper asphalt, or only very deep potholes. It's often a sandy/gravel road. Beaches are a bit of a walk, so you should factor in extra time for that. The upper floor of the villa is currently being renovated and is therefore uninhabitable (not a big deal). ... The pool isn't lit at night, but the temperature is very pleasantly warm, even at night. Sun loungers are provided. The pool is up to 1.80m deep, and about 1.30m deep at the front. Some of the kitchen appliances are quite old and need replacing or a general modernization. One of the bathrooms could also use a renovation. The beds were adequately sized (unfortunately, a little too small for me, as a 2m tall man). Unfortunately, one of the outdoor lights went out, which made things a bit inconvenient. Two gardeners came during the week to maintain the garden and the grounds. They were very friendly people. Otherwise, we can highly recommend this villa; it's also great for families.
