Why this site exists
Mallorca is the best place in Europe to ride a road bike, but the practical knowledge — which café actually welcomes a group in cleats, where the water taps are on a 160 km day, which descent is closed this week — lives in riders' heads and scattered forum threads. Mallorca Cycling Lab puts it in one place.
We don't sell anything here. No bookings, no commissions, no sponsored rankings. This is a guide, and the only thing it optimises for is a better day on the bike.
How the data works
Every place on the map earns its spot through signals, not opinions. Here is what feeds the guide:
Sources
OpenStreetMap for places and roads, Google reviews and opening hours, official race calendars, traffic authority data, and curated notes from riders on the island.
Scoring
Cafés, hotels and shops are marked cyclist-friendly only when real signals back it up — cyclists named in reviews, bike racks, group seating, a track pump behind the counter.
Freshness
Opening hours, road closures, weather at the climbs and the news feed refresh continuously. Static facts — gradients, distances, surfaces — are checked against ride data.
Built by cyclists, on the road
The Lab is maintained by a small team that trains on these roads year-round. Every climb page has been ridden, every signature town slept in, and an embarrassing number of the cafés personally audited. If something is wrong or missing, it usually means the season changed before we did — tell us and we fix it.
Who it's for and how to use it
Whether you are planning a first training camp or your tenth, start with the map to see climbs, cyclist cafés, bike shops and water stops in one view, then open any climb for its gradient, elevation profile, live weather and the services nearby. Every page is built to answer a specific planning question rather than to sell you something.
