Where riders take the photo

Sa Calobra is one of the most photographed roads on the island because the road is the subject. The descent from Coll dels Reis drops through a long run of switchbacks and the Nus de sa Corbata, the loop that doubles back under itself and is the classic aerial and long-lens shot. Shoot riders on the way up, when they are slow and in the frame for longer, and stop only where the verge is wide enough: the road is narrow and busy with coaches. Early morning gives the cleanest light on the rock walls and the fewest vehicles in the frame.
