From sunset to sunrise, in tunnels, or whenever visibility is poor (rain, fog), cyclists must run a white front light and a red rear light. On interurban roads, at night or in poor visibility, you also need at least one luminous or reflective element visible from 150 metres (art. 118.2, in force since 1 October 2026; the earlier reflective-garment clause, art. 98.3, was repealed). Sa Calobra, Cap Formentor, and most Tramuntana descents include tunnels where lights are mandatory even during the day. Riding without the required lights, or without the reflective elements, is a minor (leve) infraction under the Ley de Tráfico (art. 75.a and 75.b), fined up to €100 (art. 80.1).
