Wind on the upper exposed sections can be brutal. There is a water fountain in the village of Fornalutx if you detour the first 2 km. No refuel between Fornalutx and the tunnel.

Safety profile
Risk 1–5 from our road-safety review, 5 is highest
The signature ridge road of the Tramuntana is also the corridor riders ask about most. Unlit tunnels, no shoulder, blind hairpins and a steady summer mix of motorcoaches and rental cars. Avoid descending in fading light; use a rear flasher in every tunnel even at midday. No per-road casualty figures are published for it.
