The signature ridge road of the Tramuntana is also the corridor riders ask about most. Unlit tunnels, no shoulder, blind hairpins and a steady summer mix of motorcoaches and rental cars. Avoid descending in fading light; use a rear flasher in every tunnel even at midday. No per-road casualty figures are published for it.

About safety on Puig Major (Coll de sa Bataia → Tunnel)
Puig Major's safety issues are wind, length and the tunnel. The upper, exposed sections can be brutal in wind, and with no refuel between Fornalutx and the tunnel a bad day has few escape options over 14 km and 840 m of ascent. The summit is the mouth of the Túnel del Puig Major on the MA-10; check the MA-10 Tramuntana tunnels road-risk page before you ride, because lighting, fumes and passing vehicles in a long tunnel are very different from open road. Traffic here is medium, so use a rear light and keep to the right.
