No phone use while riding

Holding a phone, wearing headphones in both ears, or using any device that compromises hearing or attention is fineable on the bike (a grave infraction under the Ley de Tráfico, art. 76.f and 76.g, fined €200 under art. 80.1). A call is only allowed without using your hands and without headphones or earpieces; the wireless-intercom exception in art. 18.2, as reworded from 1 October 2026, covers the helmets of motorcyclists and moped riders only, not bicycle helmets. Bar-mounted phones used hands-free are fine. Open-ear bone-conduction headphones land in a grey area enforced inconsistently — assume the strictest reading on Sa Calobra during peak season.
