Before you climb

  • Mid-May to mid-October (202615 May-15 Oct, 10:00-22:00) private cars are restricted, so bikes share the road with almost no traffic.
  • Outside that window, start before 09:00 to avoid coaches.
  • No water past the Hotel Formentor.

Access & road rules

  • Private cars and motorbikes are restricted on the Ma-2210 from 15 May to 15 October 2026 (some press reports say 18 October), daily 10:00-22:00. Check formentor.conselldemallorca.es for the current end date.
  • Cyclists and pedestrians are exempt: bikes may ride the whole road at any hour, including the closed section from Formentor beach to the lighthouse (about km 8.7 to km 19.6).
  • Section 1 (Port de Pollença to Formentor beach) lets private cars in only while the beach car park has space; section 2 (beach to lighthouse) is closed to them. TIB bus 334 (Alcúdia - Port de Pollença - lighthouse) runs daily during the restriction and is the shuttle option.
  • Why it matters for riders: far less traffic between 10:00 and 22:00, so the quiet hours are no longer only dawn. Outside the restriction period, start before 09:00 to avoid coaches. Unauthorised vehicles risk fines of 100-200 EUR (DGT).
  • No lighthouse-road closure for rockfall or works was reported at the time of checking.
