That density has nothing to do with tourism. Manacor is the working capital of the east: a real town with a trade to serve, which is why the addresses sit on the Ronda del Port, the Ronda de Felanitx, the Via Palma and the Avinguda del Parc as much as in the centre. For a rider it is the practical service point for the whole eastern half — the loops out to Porto Cristo and Cales de Mallorca, the road north to Artà, the run south to Felanitx and Sant Salvador, and the flat inland roads through Petra and Vilafranca. In February, when parts of the coast are still shut, a town that trades all year is worth knowing.
