Open now vs on duty in Palma

Open now means one shop’s own timetable: the hours we hold for that pharmacy, compared against the current local time in Mallorca (Europe/Madrid). That is the whole of what the filter on this page does. Where we have no hours for a listing, it says so rather than inventing a schedule — and even where we do, a pharmacy can change its hours without telling OpenStreetMap or Google.

On duty is the rota, farmacia de guardia in Spanish and farmàcia de guàrdia in Catalan. Because Palma is one municipality with a lot of pharmacies in it, the cover you get late at night is decided by that rota and not by which shop happens to be nearest your hotel. The rota is set and published by COFIB, the Balearic pharmacists’ association, which reserves its content — so we link it instead of copying it, and there is no mirror of it here or anywhere else.

Palma spreads a long way, and where you are matters more than the total. The old town — Plaça Major, Sant Miquel, La Rambla, the Born — is the thickest part of the cluster and the easiest to reach on foot from Parc de la Mar, which is where most group rides meet. Santa Catalina and Sa Faixina serve the Paseo Marítimo end, useful if you are heading out west along the coast towards Illetes, Portals and Andratx.

Riding east, the seafront strip through Es Molinar, Portitxol and Ciutat Jardí and on to Coll d’en Rabassa and Can Pastilla has its own pharmacies within a block or two of the cycle path — that is the corridor you use on the way to Llucmajor and Cap Blanc. Inland, Pere Garau, Foners, Son Espanyolet and Son Rapinya cover the residential ring, and Establiments and Son Sardina sit on the northern exits towards Valldemossa and the Coll de Sóller. A pharmacy is a supply stop, not a clinic. The practical trick in Palma is direction of travel: solve it before you leave the city, because the density drops sharply once you are past the ring road, and on the Tramuntana side the next town with anything is a climb away. If you are already out and turning back, aim for the seafront or the old town rather than the residential streets in between.
