The shops are spread across four rough zones, and which one you want depends on why you are going. The centre and the streets behind the old town suit a walk-in fix while you are already in the city. The Portixol and Ciutat Jardí seafront and the Playa de Palma corridor sit on the flat bay road most riders use to leave town, so they are easy to fold into a ride. The industrial estates off the Via de Cintura are less charming and often where the bigger service departments and wheel-building gear live. If you are heading out towards Establiments and Esporles for the Tramuntana, sort the bike before you start climbing, not after.

Phone first, because the part matters more than the address. A rear derailleur hanger is frame-specific, so a shop either has one that fits or has to order it — ask that on the call before you ride over. Send the make, model and year, and a photo of the mount. If you packed a spare hanger, say so: it turns an ordering problem into a workshop job.

Do Palma workshops take walk-ins?
